The ODBC Paradox Setup dialog box contains the following controls, among others:

Data source information

Identifies the Paradox database, defaulting to the name assigned by the manufacturer. The Description field, which is blank by default, can contain your descriptive qualifiers.

Database

Use these options to locate the Paradox database or use the current directory. You can also select the specific version on any installed database.

Options

Click to change driver options that affect access, services, and performance:

  • Collating Sequence. Dictates the sequence in which the fields are sorted.
  • Exclusive. Limits access to only one user and improves performance.
  • Page Timeout. Sets the period of time, in tenths of a second, that an unused page remains in the buffer.
  • User Name. The Paradox user name displayed to other users of Paradox files when a lock is encountered.
  • Net Style. The network access style to use when accessing Paradox data.
