The procedure for installing the Remote Desktop Session Host (RD Session Host) role service for an RD Session Host server that provides redirection to virtual desktops is the same procedure as installing the RD Session Host role service for an RD Session Host server that hosts RemoteApp programs, with one exception:
- When you use Server Manager to install the RD Session Host role service for an RD Session Host server that provides redirection to virtual desktops, during the role service installation, on the Configure Client Experience page, ensure that none of the check boxes are selected.
Also, do not install programs on an RD Session Host server that is configured to provide redirection to virtual desktops. Users cannot access those programs as RemoteApp programs and cannot connect remotely to the desktop of the RD Session Host server.
