To edit passwd, group, and host map entries using Active Directory Users and Computers

Important

Do not use Active Directory Users and Computers to modify attributes of special users and groups, that is, users and groups with user identifiers (UIDs) or group identifiers (GIDs) of less than 100. If you do, the data returned by Server for NIS is not correct for those users and groups. Use the procedure described in Edit standard and nonstandard map entries using the command line interface instead.

To edit passwd, group, and host map entries
  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.

To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.

You can also open Active Directory Users and Computers from within Server Manager, by expanding Roles and then Active Directory Domain Services in the hierarchy pane, and then selecting Active Directory Users and Computers.

  2. In the console tree, expand the Active Directory domain that contains the map you want to edit, and then do one of the following:

    • To edit passwd or group maps, click Users.

    • To edit the host map, click Computers.

  3. Double-click the user or computer whose properties you want to edit.

  4. Click the UNIX Attributes tab.
