Use the following procedure to add a Remote Desktop Virtualization Host (RD Virtualization Host) server by using the Remote Desktop Connection Manager tool. When you add an RD Virtualization Host server, the virtual machines that are hosted on the RD Virtualization Host server are available to be used for virtual desktop pools and personal virtual desktops in RemoteApp and Desktop Connection.

Note

All virtual machines hosted on the RD Virtualization Host server are shown in the Remote Desktop Connection Manager tool. To exclude a virtual machine from being shown, use the Remote Desktop Services Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider to configure the metadata of the virtual machine. For more information, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=143455.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, on the RD Connection Broker server that you plan to configure, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477.
