Phone number for this device

The phone number of this device. The phone number is used as the Called Station ID and in Bandwidth Allocation Protocol (BAP)-enabled connections. When a BAP-enabled remote access client requests another connection, the remote access server sends back a message that contains the phone number to dial for the new connection.

For the Called Station ID, you need to manually configure the called number if:

  • You are using the Called-Station-Id attribute in a network policy.

  • Your phone line, dial-up hardware, and driver for your dial-up hardware do not support the identification of the called number.

The number typed here must match the number typed in the Called-Station-Id attribute of the network policy. Otherwise, the connection is rejected. If your phone line, dial-up hardware, and driver for your dial-up hardware support the identification of the called number, then the number typed here is ignored.

For Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) or Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) ports, the number you type here is the IP address that is assigned to the interface of the virtual private network (VPN) server on which VPN connections are received.

Maximum ports

The maximum number of ports for this device. You can also click the arrows to select a new setting. You can only configure this option on devices that support a variable number of ports.
