To manage the domain with a different domain controller using Active Directory Administrative Center
  1. To open Active Directory Administrative Center, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Administrative Center.

    Note

Another way to open Active Directory Administrative Center is to click Start, click Run, and then type dsac.exe.

  2. In the navigation pane, right-click the domain that you want to manage with a different domain controller, and then click Change domain controller.

    Note

You can also right-click any navigation node that represents a container within the domain that you want to manage with a different domain controller, and then click Change domain controller. In other words, you can change a domain controller connection for any node in the navigation pane. However, changing a domain controller connection for any particular node that represents a container within a certain domain also changes that connection for all other nodes in the navigation pane that represent containers that belong to that same domain.

  3. Click Any writable domain controller or click Select a domain controller from the following list, and then select a domain controller in the list.
