ypclear
NAME
ypclear - Windows command-line utility to clear the Network Information Service (NIS) server cache for an NIS map and its dependent maps
SYNOPSIS
ypclear [-d domainName] [-t] [-h nisServer] mapname ypclear -x
DESCRIPTION
The ypclear(1w) Windows command-line utility tells the specified Network Information Service (NIS) server in a specified domain that a map has changed and that the server should clear its cache. Without this notification, the NIS server can sometimes serve out-of-date information.
The ypclear command can be used to rebuild the map cache of an NIS server that still displays obsolete map data, even when Active Directory shows a current and accurate map of the network. Typically, using ypclear corrects the problem.
The ypclear command accepts the following options and arguments:
Term | Definition |
---|---|
-d domain |
Specifies the NIS domain. If this option is not used, the NIS domain is assumed to be the domain named in the DEFAULT_NIS_DOMAIN environment variable. |
-t |
Inhibits map nickname translation. |
-h nisServer |
Specifies the name of the NIS server. If this option is not used, the NIS server is assumed to be the server named in the NIS_SERVER environment variable. |
-x |
Displays the map nickname translation table. |
