You can modify the properties of an existing connection in the Remote Desktops snap-in. Some of the properties that you can modify include the computer name, logon information, desktop size, and authentication options.
Any user account can be used to complete this procedure.
To modify an existing connection |
Open the Remote Desktops snap-in. To do this, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, point to Remote Desktop Services, and then click Remote Desktops.
In the console tree, expand Remote Desktops.
Right-click the connection that you want to modify, and then click Properties.
Make the modifications that you want.
- On the General tab, you can modify the computer or connection name, indicate whether to connect to a session by using the /admin option, or modify your logon information.
Under Logon information, if you have not saved your logon credentials, you can select the Allow me to save credentials check box. Your credentials will be saved the next time that you connect to the remote computer through the Remote Desktops snap-in.Important If you configure a program to start on connection on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP on the host computer, you must clear the Connect with /admin option check box on the General tab. If the host computer is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you are not required to clear the /admin option to start a program on connection. If the host computer is running Windows Vista or Windows 7, you cannot configure a program to start on connection.
If you have previously saved your logon credentials, you can click edit or delete to modify or to remove your credentials.
If you have saved your credentials, but want to temporarily log on as a different user, you can select the Always ask for credentials check box. To use your saved credentials again, clear this check box. - On the Screen Options tab, you can modify the desktop size.
- On the Other tab, you can configure or modify a program that starts on connection, modify the authentication method, or modify drive redirection settings.
- On the General tab, you can modify the computer or connection name, indicate whether to connect to a session by using the /admin option, or modify your logon information.
When you are finished, click OK.
