When you disconnect from a session, your programs will continue to run in a disconnected state. When you reconnect, you will be reconnected to the same session, as long as the session is still running on the remote computer. You can disconnect from a session by using the Remote Desktops snap-in.
Any user account can be used to complete this procedure. However, to disconnect a session, you must be a member of the local Remote Desktop Users group on the remote computer.

Open the Remote Desktops snap-in. To do this, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, point to Remote Desktop Services, and then click Remote Desktops.
In the console tree, right-click the name of the connection that you want to disconnect, and then click Disconnect.
