The Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) IIS Server Extension lets you configure an IIS server to let BITS clients to perform or resume background file uploads to IIS virtual directories. Upon completion of a file upload, BITS Server can notify a Web application of the new file (through a POST to a configurable URL) in order to process the uploaded files. Your Web application can then optionally reply to the client's posting.
After you have installed BITS IIS Server Extension, you enable it and customize the settings as needed for your environment. For installation instructions, see BITS IIS Server Extension. You can disable BITS IIS Server extension if it is necessary by clearing the Allow clients to upload files check box.
