Fax events can be viewed using Event Viewer in Server Manager, Computer Management, or the Fax Server role page. Like events for other features, Fax events appear with an explanation and often an error code. There are four categories of events: General, Incoming, Outgoing, and Initialization or Shutdown.

You can use Fax Service Manager to manage the size of your event logs by specifying sensitivity levels for event types to limit the events that will be logged. The sensitivity scale is a four-point scale that ranges from None to High. None corresponds to tracking no (0) events. High corresponds to tracking every event. (The default value is 3.)

To configure tracking levels for Fax service events
  1. Open Fax Service Manager.

  2. In the left pane, right-click Fax, and then click Properties.

  3. On the Event Reports tab, for each type of event move the sliders to the left or right to change the sensitivity levels.

  4. You should receive an alert that the Fax service needs to be stopped and then restarted. If you do not, then right-click Fax, click Stop, right-click Fax again, and then click Start.
