To configure a server to host virtual machines to provide virtual desktops to users through RemoteApp and Desktop Connection, you must do the following on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2:
- Install the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host Role Service
- Create and Configure Virtual Machines on an RD Virtualization Host Server

A Remote Desktop Virtualization Host (RD Virtualization Host) server is only needed if you plan to provide virtual desktops to users through RemoteApp and Desktop Connection. Virtual desktops include virtual machines in virtual desktop pools and personal virtual desktops. |
