To remotely manage Message Queuing on a remote computer, the Remote Registry Service must be started on the remote computer. If it is not started, the Message Queuing node for the remote computer will not appear in Computer Management on the local computer.
Membership in Administrators, or equivalent, on the local and remote computer is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
Membership in <Domain>\Domain Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure using Active Directory Users and Computers.
Remotely managing Message Queuing
To start the Remote Registry Service on the remote computer |
Open Computer Management.
In the console tree, click Services.

In the details pane find the Remote Registry service, and ensure that its status shows as Started. If it is not, right-click Remote Registry and then click Start. You might also want to change the startup type to Automatic. To do so, right-click Remote Registry, click Properties, and in the Startup type box, click Automatic.

Open Computer Management.
Right-click Computer Management (local), and then click Connect to another computer....

On the Action menu, click Connect to another computer.
In the Select Computer dialog box, click Another computer, type or browse to the name of the remote computer, and then click OK.
If the connection succeeds (that is, if Computer Management now refers to the remote computer name), double-click Services and Applications, and then verify that Message Queuing appears in the details pane.
To manage Message Queuing queues using Active Directory Users and Computers |
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
On the View menu, click Users, Groups, and Computers as containers, and then click Advanced Features.
In the console tree, right-click the applicable queue.

Complete the desired task as you would when using Computer Management.
This method can be used only if the local computer belongs to a Windows 2000 or later domain and can contact a domain controller.
You can create, delete, and change the properties of public queues on remote computers using the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in only if you have domain administrative credentials and are logged on using a domain user account.
